about aging itself. The communities that thrive will not simply provide care. They will help residents discover that aging is not a process of becoming less. It’s an opportunity to become more. More connected. More purposeful. More resilient. More grateful. More engaged with life. The most important determinants of aging aren't found in our chromosomes or in our laboratories. They’re found in our mindset and our community culture. Senior living communities – more than government, healthcare systems or even families – are uniquely positioned to become "Micro Blue Zones" because we can’t change the culture without changing the conversation.

Unlike healthcare systems that primarily treat illness, senior living communities can shape the daily behaviors, relationships, attitudes and experiences that influence long-term well-being. They can create environments where healthy behaviors spread naturally through the culture of the community itself. The healthiest communities are not necessarily those that do the most for residents. They are the communities that create the most opportunities for residents to do meaningful things for one another.

And ultimately, the stories we believe about aging become the aging we experience. 
