Handshake Opens Doors to Hundreds of New Applicants Handshake is a national early-career recruiting platform used by colleges and universities to connect students and recent graduates with employers offering internships, part-time work and full-time opportunities. Since last year, CALA’s workforce team has used Handshake to expand members’ reach to potential new employees. Through the platform, 28 job opportunities across California were promoted to students at more than 2,000 colleges and universities. These postings generated 499 total applicants, with dining server roles attracting the most interest – including 121 applicants for a single part-time server position in the Sacramento region. The results highlight how Handshake can introduce students to entry-level roles and potential career pathways within senior living while helping members reach a broader pool of emerging talent.
